One of the neat things about Grounds of Valor is that the longer you do it, the easier it gets with "mini-atma" bonuses, and the more exp you get per page.

I started out at 700 exp a page, at level 37.

I'm now 42.

So am I.

Anyway! Since I've been hearing good things about it, I decided to hunt down a good Grounds of Valor camp. Outer Hototototototototototototo Ruins, you say? How hard can the cards be?

Oh, oh oh oh they are piss easy!

The pages are really sweet, short and decent exp (only about 100 less than I was getting in Yutunga Jungle, but about half the danger of Final Sting bees/Bomb Toss gobs.), and the "mini-atma" bonuses you get are also awesome as well!

I guess when I start MNK and NIN, I'll follow the Grounds of Valor pages and see where they take me!

To summarize the lack of posting, and yes, this is being cross posted throughout the blogs...

School is hell, and I'm not talking the easy first or second levels, I'm talking about those nasty, deeper levels. I've busted my ass this semester for a dickwad who I hope has a world of shit to crawl through after the scathing review I've left him.

Lets get one thing straight, shall we?

Writing is an expression of feeling in written form. That feeling can EASILY be lost as it is read and interpreted by other folks. Analyzing that feeling depends on the reader, and as long as that reader can back it up, they can't be "wrong"... because it is THEIR feelings. YOUR feelings and THEIR feelings do not have to match.

So, after a mental break of sanity because I thought I was losing my gift, I managed to churn out my two English final exam papers. I submitted them without doing much reviewing on my end, nor do I care if they are shit or not at this point. I'm going to pass, and nothing can be worse than the D- I have in a Statistics class... oh, and the dual C's in Italian. At worst, I get a B. Oh boy! I still maintain a 3.7 gpa somehow. I'm magic, I tell you.

Oh! and I dumped my boyfriend of almost three years.

I think we all got that though. See the below posts.

That just couldn't be an easy process, could it? Next time, I'm just poisoning people. It's easier.

I've also just finished, what I consider, the most hellish art class one could ever take. My best friend, who is an art major, and her professor who I had the pleasure of meeting, both have considered this class to be completely awful. Completing my final projects was close to ripping out my teeth with pliers without an aspirin to a help.

I've ALSO bought a car and managed to navigate a NY death highway... I'm human, sorry. I have fears, just, ones filled with big metal boxes smashing into my itty bitty car.

Of course, the usual "I'm going into a dead field, I'll never find a job, I'm going to live at home forever working a crappy job for the rest of my days" is always around. As the days pass and NOTHING gets better.. you know, the dilemma all recent college grads are facing...

Add all these up into a wonderful slurry and serve it up to me with a cherry on top and boba at the bottom!

It killed my creativity and my focus. I couldn't sit and write a blog entry without deleting it, I couldn't read a book without quitting after a page or so, I couldn't even get through treasured video game. My reading challenge stagnated, my writing ceased...

Thankfully, that has all cleared up. I took a sickday (because I truly felt like shit) and watched over ten hours of Doctor Who and My Little Pony. That is a lot of space travel and ponies, let me tell you...

Happy endings cannot happen all the time. I know this. I'm still a sucker for them though. So, my ponies go on, the Doctor travels on, and I'm picking my shit up again. I've returned to XI, which feels fucking amazing. You have no idea. Just dressing my Mei up make me smile. I sat and wrote again, I read again, and here I am, blogging again.

Ahh, a functioning brain, such a brilliant thing.

I'll call it a summer of Mei-provements. Meilin-themed-improvements. I have a lot of work to do. My website, my guild, needs much more work, I have writing to work on, a Japanese challenge exam to pass, and who knows what else!

TAKE MY LOVABLE MULE... out and make us a deadly duo. Using our existing job combos, I've decided to work on my MNK and his NIN.

This way we can do MNK/WHM and RDM/NIN, the best team of jobs I can think of.

First though, subjobs have to be in order. So, DNC for me and RDM for the mule!

Oh yes, RDM. Because you don't want to unlock and level SCH for me, is that right?

Bingo.

I've gotta say though, DNC is pretty fun. The numerous links I can handle without batting an eyelash makes it seem really freaking overpowered at this level. I'm currently at 21 and kicking ass and taking names.

I am helping you know. Even though I'm naked, with a sword you found in LaTheine, I'm enfeebling flies and sheeps so your pansy DNC ass does not end up face first in the sand.

Shut up Zoar.

For a little future proofing, I decided to make sure my subs were "of level" for the new cap.

....I had to level ninja eventually.... With leveling ninja I had to make sure I had some decent spells lined up. Off I went to acquire the ninja paralyze, Jubaku.

Rumor tells me that if I bring a Damp Scroll to Shivivi in Norg, they will tell me what to do next.

Since I'm a little lazy, I snagged the scroll from the AH... it was 4k well spent.

Well, shes heard of it, thats good. Of course, I have to all the way out to the hot springs because, well, whats a secret without work?

"Da only reason we stopped makin' dem is because nobody-buddy wanted to wall all da way to dose hot springs...." ....and you think I want to go up there too?

I warped home and found my bathing suit for the long walk up to the hot springs. After the too long walk, I dipped my feet, and the stupid scroll into the warm water. As the scroll was busy boiling away I relaxed for a bit, scribbling up a "to-do" list while I soaked away last nights dynamis woes.

My scroll bobbed to the surface and I retrieved it to start reading the ancient ninja ways of... para...

I do try my hardest to be on top of the updates for my maps. I'm also currently looking for easy skill ups because I'm a fracking WHM. Do you know how hard it is to skill up when you have practically no attacking power?

I heard of some wonderful skilling up opportunities in Castle Zvals, and well since I have maps to work on, I figure I might as well go.

DEAR ALTANA ARE THOSE IMPS?!?!?

Yes, Castle Zvals is being guarded by floating imps. They don't seem to agro (yet) but its still creepy!!

The layout is mostly the same, though "normal" entrance to the inner parts of the castle is different. I've already began marking up what is closed and the new route, while being awfully creeped out by those floating imps.

All in all, creepy Castle Zvals as usual. Though, I do have a bit of a confession...

I got stuck after finding a nice skillup spot.

Ohhhh yeah! Why did I quit WAR again? I gotta regear myself, that was retardly fun.

Anyway, I'm still leveling BLM, just slower then expected. I'm also investing some time into this Trials of the Magician quest because there's a Cure Potency + 15% staff in there!

My first task? Take Staff from 40 to 230... I'm in Kuftal now with my NPC. I'm at 153. How long will the next 60ish levels take? All god damned day.

Today's lesson: Always skill up your weapons even if you think they aren't useful. They are.

Update Day, March 2010

Updates are important to us all. Its what makes the game move forward. The March2010 update brought us a whole slew of new time-passers to keep us busy until July's level cap increase.

So far, being on the "Destination World", I haven't had much of a chance to see new content. Quetz is up and down like a chigoe that found a mithra.

Looking over the update notes, things like Campaign Battle updates make me happy, as well as being able to use new weapon skills. I'm sure I'll be dragged out to do the new summon battles in no time.

Right now, 5k people on my dear Quetzalcoatl. I'm almost proud to say that its nice to see people in Jeuno again. ^^

I think I had a period of "Not-really-Meiness". I'm sorry.

All of a sudden I just wasn't on XI. I was not doing anything. I just wasn't... me. Even if I'm bored in game, I'm online to chat with my friends or around to do something.

I got an EXP party for my 40 SCH the other night and it was like I woke up again.

I missed it.

So, I promise, this time I won't forget my blog.

Right now?

That's me. As a BLM. That's a Feesh. Its dying. ^^

Its not really hard, I'm Lv70 with pretty crapptastic gear, I'm at the lower end of the feeshes, getting about 100 exp a kill which isn't bad for a little experiment.

70 BLM/RDM 63+27 Int, and 275 skill... I could do much better, but for right now, this works pretty well. ^^

Basically, it goes..
-Stoneskin/Aquaveil
-Grav Feesh
-Get about 20 out and Drain.
-Bind asap, get back to 20.
-Wait for Drain to be 28/27 seconds til ready and start nuking
-Feesh mouth will open as nuke lands, doing a fuckton of dmg.
-Stun/sleep
-Repeat.

It takes me two-three nukes to kill one, improvements are gonna be, 1, gear, 2, food.

I wanna be 75 by the end of March. ^^ Think I can do it?

WHM WAR BRD RDM

I like to play one of them.

Can you guess which?

I'm good at playing said one of them..... if you can't figure it out, its WHM.

White Mages do one thing extremely well. They heal people VERY well. In my case, extremely well. Their fatal flaw is the lack of their own MP recovery. With the introduction of SCH and Sublimation, and Mystic Boon, WHMs were allowed to much easily recover their own MP.

When I'm in the mood for retard contact, and my party flag goes up, I am usually on WHM and most often end up on BRD. Rarely though, I get asked to come as a healer. Midway to camp I get "No, not whm, rdm!"

I would like to say that I can heal twice as good, and conserve my MP much better on WHM then RDM. Let me explain...

-With my body, I get a refresh+1
-With Sanction, I get another tic of refresh while at low MP.
-WHM gets the Protect and Shell V spells, which will cut DMG you take. RDM gets the single target IV's, or the AoE II's.
-Cure V generates less hate then Cure IV. Mobs will not come charging after me.
-My Cure V can cure anywhere from 700HP (Darksday) to 900+(Lightsday w/ Obi) while my RDMs Cure IV can only cure 630 and generate a shit ton of hate.
-Regen 3
-WHM gets Cureskin. This can protect you from another hit or two.
-I have 300 MORE mp then my RDM.
-Subbing SCH, I have access to Sublimation which is comparable to Refresh. Light Arts also cuts down on the MP costs of my spells and gives me an ability that cuts my MP cost in half I can use every minute.
-In an emergency, Benediction.
-Access to much more Cure Potency gear.

In comparison to a RDM...
-Rely on Cure III spam, or the hate spike Cure IV's can cause.
-Refresh/Convert
-Limited access to Cure Potency gear.
-Smaller MP pool.
-Subbing SCH only opens up Stratagems

Mmkay, now...Would you say, need 6 BLMs to do something, and only have 5 and stick a RDM in that last spot? I just don't get why people assume that a RDM can do a WHMs job! I have a MUCH MUCH MUCH easier time playing WHM in merit parties. Maybe one day someone will let me show them...

This is a first! A cross post between Meilin's House of Rant and The White Mage Survival Guide! My two personas coming together to make an entry! Hehehe.

Waaaaaaaaaaay back in October, Square Enix, hereby known as the captors of my monthly $30 and prolly some of my soul by now, announced they were releasing dogtags with the national flag of your choosing. On the back, ones player name and server could be engraved. They were priced way too high for my tastes but OH HOW I WANTED ONE.

I figured it would look stellar on my collar that I wear out.. It would say where I belong. Oh well, it sold out and I figured I'll just find something new to put on the collar.

Until my fantastical manthing saw them in stock and got me one. This was back in November. <3 I figured I'd have to wait til christmas but I'm a patient gal.

So, cue three emails and some paranoia that it got stolen later...

Squee. (Oh, my desk is messy...)

Its gorgeous. The two Sandy griffins are beautifully engraved on the silver. It looks dirty in the pictures but its much more beautiful in person.

On the back it reads "Quetzalcoatl Meilin". Its the perfect little thing that, regardless of the games status down the line, that'll remind me of all the stuff my little red haired muffin has done over the years, and all the years to come.

I guess you have been wondering where I vanished off to.

Well, I guess if you were in Ru'Hmet for a while you might of seen me there. For a few weeks. Why you ask?

Well, I decided to work on my hMP set, to do this I needed an item called "Relaxing Earring" to obtain said earring, I needed Euvhi Organs... from Euvhi mobs. Flowers.

Do you know how often I fight those things? I have no idea what the hell they do or what the hell they are capable of. Fellow relaxing earring hunter Bootymaster and I geared up our magey jobs (RDM for me, BLM for him) and we went to work.

Our target was Aw'euvhi in Ru'Hmet. As we learned on our very first pull, they agro when open (See above image, that's "open") and link when closed. We camped in the long room along the I9/J9 line, there were flowers on both sides(two each, north and south), and a Grah we would have to get through on the northern side.

They move pretty quickly and hit REALLY hard. Grav, Bind, and Sleep stuck without any problem. Three nuke rounds from us both (Thun -> Bliz -> Thun, IV's for Booty and III's for me) usually caused our evil flower to wilt. Resists may vary and drain kills were needed here and there. The basic sleep-nuke stuff.

While the droprate for the NQ organs is in the single digits, the HQ organs come much faster. You can sell them or bank them for Jailer of Faith. He also drops, with a much better rate, Luminian Tissue, which we also needed for the earrings and later on, Obi's.

On the north end, dealing with the Grah is pretty much the same thing. Hes water based so a fast-casted Poisonga II may interrupt your day. Grav, Bind, Silence, sleep and nuke til dead. He won't drop anything of interest unless you need some virtue stones. His chips will net you a nice stack back in the safehold. In his spider form 3 hits will destroy a hume BLM so make sure to stay FAR away from him while nuking.

Surprisingly, as a duo exp is really nice, 150+ per kill, and chains for 200 or more. We needed 10 organs, were at 8, and I got 9 merits so far, and recapped my buffer numerous times. While boring as shit, at least I'm getting merits.

Since I came /blm, and Booty /rdm, we didn't have Reraise. We died a total of 4 times in the two weeks or so that we've been there. Its not necessary if you keep your distance from the annoying things.

....I really want my earring.

I have nightmares about the /tell bell.

I admit to using the Chatmon plugin for windower. It helps an ungodly amount by filtering out all those pesky RMT tells and tells me when I get a party invite for I'd otherwise miss them.

I did turn off everything else though. No "Incomming Tell" no "You are being talked about".

Still, tells prove to be an entertaining feat. I'm sure we've all seen this recently.

'cmon RMT, most of us arent that dumb. Atleast GMs can be properly formatted and spell properly because its all macro responses anyway!

Though, this tell confused the hell out of me last night.

Other people reported getting the same /tell and I checked my friends list a few times trying to find out who it was >_>; /sea resulted in kicking back an /anon character.

I used to run salvage with a JP group. It was AWESOME. I learned a little Japanese and had a really bitching time... it was kinda lonely though. I didn't really speak enough of the language to communicate and they didn't speak enough to joke with me. When Lilla's group moved into a crummy time for me I didn't do salvage anymore and that was it.

Now, I started it with my own group. ^^ We've been running for a few weeks now and have a great time. Have tried many NMs and decided to try a boss, for shits and giggles.

That was our setup. We had tried this once and got crap for cells. No weapons, no INT. Crap crap crap. The run went down like a cheerleader on prom night.

A week later we tried again. We were 100% unlocked, Booty pulled the gears to weaken Long-Bowed Chariot's Homing Missile like a pro. Our mages were Mana Boost'ed.

Up the last teleporter. Approach LBC. Fight.

We did awesome.

Bucer kicked the bucket about a minute in.. Coeurl and Erin did a wonderful job being mnks, Booty kept up his SAM awesomeness. Ketsu, Shellers, Rmtaru, and myself did our magey jobs perfectly.

Bucey had to AFK while we were taking celebratory screenshots so we included Bucerfeesh instead.

Augments Away! Part 2

Alt title: Succor to the Sidhe

As stated before, I'd hate to augment my precious gear and end up having to rebuy shit. I'll augment pieces that are part of my hMP set for fun. In short: augment system and me are minor friends.

The quest line Succor to the Sidhe lets you have more job-specific augments for weapons. Meh, I have the best maces I can buy (save for one) and my relic/mythic will come in time. RDM will end up with the Joytoy, WAR is pretty much retired, and perhaps I'll just unlock the damn Heart Snatcher for BRD. I did get invited to help for this fight, so why not. I like new things.

Lourkrina told us to meet her out in Grauberg and thats just what I did.

She turned in her weapon and popped our mobs. BLM RDM(me)SMN PLD DRG SAM. 30 minutes. Three dinos and a very feisty Quadav.

The Sentinel Wivre went to sleep easily but GOD DAMN DID THEY HURT. They wiped my stoneskin (and phalanx) with a single hit which made resleeping them when all three were out a very large pain. Rootsono, our BLM, faceplanted after the second sleeps went off. Thankfully I kept a good distance to sleep before I was raped.

After the Wivres were dead, we started work on this very defensive Quadav. PLD type and spams a def up move and Invincible. Do you know how much hate dispel generates? Even with full enmity down merits? I died three times.. ooops. Invincibles were kited off and we slowly chipped down his HP. The only deaths were thankfully Roots and my multiple ones, but eh, capped buffer.

I walked home with a consolation prize of a Tourmaline. I guess it was a fun little quest, a tad annoying for an augmentable weapon I suppose but with stats that are more job-considerate I guess nobody can complain. I never see any shouts for the OTHER zones though >_> They must be a pain..

Augments Away!

I was pretty against the augment system, aside from the two mini-expansion final rewards. Random stats thrown on my beloved gear... and even worse... NEGATIVE stats on my beloved gear... {|Thanks for the offer but I'll have to pass.|}

I was pretty reluctant to toss down a piece of gear when I was asked to come for a pop. I decided on my trusty Hierarch Belt since its simply an hMP piece for me.

With a full group, we ventured out to Valley of Sorrows for a pop. Randoms went up and I had the... pleasure... of the first pop.

Gee what a surprise, an Adamantoise. Theres me getting prepped to be eaten..

With two BLMs and a SMN in the group, the poor baby didn't survive too long. Two volleys of nukes and the turtle hit sand. I ran over to the chest to retrieve my belt, worried I was gonna end up with -30 mnd and int.

I think I made two BLMs very, very jealous.

Our other augments ranged from +10 Ice Resist, +1 Resist Bind (that proc'd on my Moogle final fight for Shadow!) and +1 MAB on a Snow Ring (Xynin was less jealous, but I got +2, HA).

While I still dismiss the augment system as a good idea gone wrong, I had a good time and came out with a new nuking belt for my RDM.

I can't believe I just said that!

Cut the epic WHM act for a moment. This is me, the human player speaking.

I'm getting really, REALLY, sick of all this FFXIV will be the death of XI talk.

Like, people telling newbs to quit playing because the game is going to "end" in a year.

NO IT IS NOT.

Oh my god, I'm ready to kill one of you little bastards. FFXI is nowhere near the end of its life.

My prediction? We'll all go check out XIV for a month or two, and miss Vana'diel. For many of us it has been our home for many, many years and its impossible to take that feeling of familiarity away from us.

As I was cleaning out my desktop for a reformat, I found this. This saying are the words that one will see when they finish San d'Oria rank 10. (Yes, the image is shitty, I made it something like 3 yrs ago on my piece of shit desktop)

Even if one day Vana'diel were to vanish from the universe as we know it.. the trials you endured...the pain...the anger...the tears...and the laughter. These memories will remain in your heart... and never fade.

Meilin will continue in Vana'diel until the servers shut down. I, Meilin of Quetzalcoatl, refuse to give up the only true home I know.

Its funny how many BLM and RDM you can find when gear is on the line.

Despite my absence, the LS had tried this mob before, took forever to kill, and came away, morale gone down faster then a girl on prom night.

...and we tried it again this week!

The secret to Armed Gears is:
-Not feeding him ANY TP.
-Knowing alot of Mages
-Learning to embrace ones RDM side.

We actually managed to learn how to kick his ass and get him down within 30 minutes. Its alot of nuking, more nuking, a side of random BLM death, and more nuking.

We only got one set of feet though. ; ; Crappy drops ftl.

Garrison!

Now, many many years ago, when I was an itsy bitsy WAR, I did a Garrison. All I remembered was scaring the crap out of ever nub in the zone when 18 of us nubs popped up, 8 NPCs did too, and orcs started appearing from nowhere.

It also ended in my death. Since then, no more Garrison. The event was lost to the times.

So, I got bored and decided to try to run the event with my linkshell. Why not right? It drops some nice lowbie gear, and mannequin parts!

I rounded up 11 people, 12 with a mule involved, in Sarutabaruta and went for it! Some Taru and Mithra popped up, and we did pretty well...until we forgot that the NPCs have to be alive for us to win. >_> Oops. We learned some very valuable things though.

Buffs, TP, FoV, and pretty much anything you do carries over.

So we hopped over to Valkrum to get shit done, son.

After scaring pretty much every single person coming to do FoV, we won Valkrum Garrison. It rained mannequin parts! ^^

We also repeated this in Ronfaure.

It really is a stupid NPC Campaign, plus the hecticness of Dynamis, for one really fun time.

I think we'll do it again soon. ^^

I spent emergency maintenance working on an update to the map pack (yay!) so, please enjoy the updated Beauc/Xarc maps!

If I get the time in the next few weeks, I think I'll begin working on the full map pack (Orignal zones need an update, BADLY). I hope someone looks forward to the full pack I do. ^^

I'm back from vacation! Miss me?

Anyway, I come back to the Verison Update, and of course, what do you do on update day? Go 'splorin!!!

I grabbed Bootymaster as soon as the servers popped up and headed out to the glacier.

Creepy.

While Beaucedine was creepy as usual (lack of background noise.. the howling wind.. the new walrus mobs..)

Xarcabard was worse.

The forts were surrounded by hordes of beastmen and scary mobs who had gotten a repainting. Castle Zvals looked pretty creepy too. ><; I did see something really neat...

ZNMs were SUPPOSED to go toe to toe with Armed Gears this week, but some JP lowman group was busy popping a bunch of them, so we packed up and headed out to Archamoth.

Now, I love my group to death, but we have two WHMs, no RDMs, and one new comer, a COR.

So, this endurance fight was a toughie. I realize how much I hated resetting Light Arts and Afflatus Solace every damn time I zoned too! ><;

The big moth of doom had to be pulled to a zoneline. Our AMAZING THF was able to train up every moth in its ??? area and zone them off for a perfectly clean pull. His job afterward was to keep zoning the babies the moth popped.

After some mid-battle party rearranging, we kept zoning off hate, resting outside, and best of all, staying mostly alive. The fight was hard, it looked bleak at times.

We succeeded though, and our resident BSTyface came home with some new shoes! Other drops included and Organics to Bucertwo, and an Ice Grip to Thistle.

Our second T3. Hope we can keep it up!

Salvage in the Near East

Its finally time we here in AkaiTenshi decided to jump into the world of Salvage.

...OH I FINALLY GET IT. SALVAGE IN THE UNDERSEA RUINS. /nods...

Anyway, our first run. ^^ I hope we can cope with the 6, POSSIBLY up to 8 we have. WHM BLM(SCH) MNK MNK(BRD BLU) NIN(PLD) SAM and potentially a DRG and THF. Everyone looks silly nekkie.

We did pretty well for our first run. Temp items and cells need to be distributed faster, we need to do assaults faster since we have Dynamis almost immediately after.

We caught wind of the NM "Mad Bomber" and tried to kill him. We got him under 50%, too bad Xynin was unable to nuke. ; ;

We also managed to pop a rampart to TRY to pop another NM. No dice, but hey, its a work in progress! So, heres to our Salvage runs, perhaps we'll do better this week. ^^

A Tale of Two Mages.

Meet Shadowenigmaz. He is my bestest BLM friend once ban't and now back. He was having a bit of a night soloing, so I came out on RDM to help.

So, we make a good duo. I have agro problems, hes got dying problems, alls good.

Did we mention we like to ISNM too?

We manage to duo "A Tough Nut to Crack". Lord this thing is stupid. Enter one Wamoura. He has two forms, curled up in a ball, immune to the world, and all stretched out ready to be killed. Gravity, Bind, an armfull of DoT send him from curled to uncurled. He has a hate problem, as he can't decide which one of us to attack!

He'll literally spin in a circle as we rest up. Silly worm.

It drains both our pools, but hey, the rewards are worth it! To team Mei/Shadow!

Finally, back to assaults!

So, we opened up with Extermination, a simple kill-all quest. It was simple! Our tank got a little aggravated with my lack of haste, so..

It was super easy. Kill all. Its like were in Nyzul again.

The twist with this assault is that a NM may pop when you kill a group of monsters. We got the slime NM, wasn't hard. We finished with about 10 minutes on the clock. Next!

We did Escort Professor Chanoix next. Oh my ALTANA do I hate escort quests.

This guy, Professor Chanoix, needs an escort to find a Marid skeleton thats been uncovered. Can't control him, he gets lost easily, and oh, did I mention the rampant undead?

So, we took off TRYING desperately to clear out the undead when they agro'd. I, the WHM, tried hard to sleep shit in our path as our lovely professor stopped to catch his breath, mine, and FUCKING RUN STRAIGHT INTO MORE AGRO.

By the end of the mission I'm ready to toss him in the same boat as Excaliace from Seagull Grounded, and as you can see, we jusssst barely won.

Once upon a morning, while I pondered sleepy and bored, I got a tell from my lovely Lilla, asking I come out to "MerifatS"

How I got "Meriphataud Mountains [S]" from that, I'll never know.

Anyway, I quickly teleported me and Booty (mid fish) out to make battle with a Sandworm, and perhaps Serket.

OM NOM NOM.

*ahem* Since the entire party, sans two of us, were Japanese, communication was through Lilla, and slightly decoded macros.

So, yeah, we ended up with Lambton Worm! Quickly plans were made for a SC and we went at him! The fight flowed rather nicely. There was some confusion with a skillchain but, all and all it went pretty good.

We may not have won (He went from 6% with 10 min left, to 20%.. I don't know how.. I gotta look that up still) but it was still fun!

Zareehkl the Jubilant.

Last week running at maybe 9-10 people, we decided to pay this jerk a visit.

He brought a friend, in the form of a Lamia >< Try as we might (Letting Blobbin and Ryio die..) we couldn't get the fish bitch to spawn. So, we went ahead and popped Zareehkl.

And when someone died, she came out to play. We wiped. We went home defeated.

Fuck you Zareehkl the Jubilant.

So we went back this week! We had a new, crazy plan. Ketsuchi will pop the NM and link all the fun mobs up to us at a safe camp! ....Yeah, about that.

So, As we expected, a line of undead waddled past with the brave soul... we voked off the mob, and proceeded to, thankfully, rape in peace and quiet.

....until we went to pop again, and Miss Lamia was a little late to the festivities.

ZNMs decided to pop Wulgaru. We had a nice setup, lots of people to chase him down with what could of used a Benny Hill soundtrack. As shown above.. well, I was bored and figured there wasn't any damage being done for me to heal so I might as well chase the little fucker around.

I don't understand why theres such a big to do about the language barrier in FFXI... I have a good friend of mine, Japanese, named Lilla. Lilla, my dear little JP PLD NIN RDM is going for his Aegis, and is 90% of the way there. I've even offered to lend him some of my coins for his last upgrade.

How did we communicate? Mostly through auto-translate. He knows a few words here and there.. he was proud to tell me he knew how to say "fuck" >_>;; fixed that quickly, but.. he said ougment, and I understood him. I can type simple words in Japanese (roman lettering) and he understands me. I can recognize and read each and every FFXI job by its symbol now. Hes a great guy, and we get along well. His friends have asked me to events before, I've done Salvage with them and now, the ANNM Scythefang Liger.

So, off we go. Lilla forgot his crate item so he had to go back to get it. >_> While we were waiting, we watched another group pop. They looked like PLD, BLM, BLM, WAR, THF. I didn't quite pay attention until they started wiping. I got worried.; ; Six tigers and an NM, and were armed with PLD RDM WHM SAM WAR? Oh dear.

Lilla told me our strat, our RDM would sleepga, then we would overwrite with Sleep2/Repose.. Lilla would hold the NM while the other two would kill the pets. Simple :3 The others used autotranslate to tell me how drops were going to be.

We popped.. aand the fight went just as planned! ^^ It was simple. Esuna was BEYOND helpful for keeping para off everyone, though, I did have to toss paralyna's at Lilla since he was out of my range.

Liger went down like the big kitty he is, rewarding us with some EXP, decent drops (I got a wootz ore :3) and an augmented mask that Risto got. ^^

I thanked my new friends, and they all thanked me on such a good job. I hope we get to play again soon.

There are some Assaults infuriate me. I'm looking at you, Excaliace from Seagull Grounded. Your spine is going to come our your ear..

Some excite me. Some are fun and quirky. Future Assaults look entertaining.

I think I'm labeling Lebros Supplies as one of those "Do we really have to do that again..?" ones.

I'm in charge of feeding a troop of soldiers trapped in Halvung... Soooo, I rounded up my static and we headed in.

WHM(Me), NIN(Bucer), MNK(Coeurldeleonne, or Snuggly), BLU(Wataza), SAM(Bootymaster)... all of us had some movement speed +, 'cept for the BLU. Damn BLUs. We entered at 18:00, so Bucer had his fast feets to kite around crawlers.

Using skype for 4/5 members (Mei, Bucer, Booty, and "Voice of God" Snuggly) we managed to communicate how to "fill" each soldier, working counter clockwise starting from the southern most 4.

All of us popped out Sprinters Shoes, and we went at it. IDing the soldiers by shield type (X, Spikey, and Golden) and combining foods to hit 7 or 8 as quickly as possible.

Once we cleared out the southern 4 guys, we let Bucer round up all the crawlers, and die in the southern most part. The rest of us went along feeding soldiers, giggling over skype as Snuggly(Voice of God, TM) remarked "Naja'a Sententials: Yes, we deliver!"

We managed to win with five mins on the clock, thankfully. Nothing good from ??? item (Cotton Cape +1! LETS AUGMENT IT) and a Hi-Potion +2 from the Lockbox.

Yawwwwn. Oh well.

We finished up all the PSC and PFC assaults. Maybe we can do something more fun and less.. uh... spine breaking? soon.

OK ok, I forgot to update again!

The cliffnotes of what I've been doing:

Got the new WHM spells. Need to rewrite ALL my WHM macros now, but, hey, the spells are pretty neat.

Esuna is great for back to back para/blind spams. I don't really stack Afflatus:Misery too often to make it a full erase.

Auspice is neat while soloing, and the subtle blow effect I was testing out during the last ACP mission. I wish it was Enlight for everyone though..

Cura falls into the "Meh" category. I really got to get the shit beat out of me, while under Misery, to pop off a decent number it looks like.

Sacrifice.. I haven't used it yet.

Afflatus Solace/Stoneskin Cures are pretty neat. They give JUST enough time to pop off a real stoneskin/utsu cast/not die while I flail for one of my books. >_>;

ZNM: Goin fineeee. <3 I really need to raise some BLMs though. ._.; I need some in the worst way.

I finally got a little trophy though! I'm so proud of them.. ^^

I have to admit, I'm quite proud of the little group I've gotten together. If we can round up 3 or so more we'd have a full alliance, and that's all we need for the bigger baddies! I'm impressed. ^^

I'll admit, nothing is cooler then watching your friends (Paladins) get their shit fucked up by an alliance of charmed allies. It's also MORE awesome when that friend (Paladin) tries to fight back.

It seems AkaiTenshi has taken a dive into ZNMs. We managed to recruit a few people for the keeling as well, including an old friend come home. Its nice. ^^

We've also started using skype, and booooy is it fun. It takes WHMing to a whole 'nother level when I'm trying to cure through laughing fits. I think Ketsu spit soda at his screen a few times.

So, we overkilled on Chigre and Chamrosh.. 14 people, one flea. 14 people, one bird (with charm!)

Drops were good too! Not much to say about strategies and all that fun junk.. we came, we saw, we raped.

Though I didn't pop, I did come home with my own trophy.. *snicker*

I finally did it!

I've obtained EVERY single map in the game to date! Now of course keeping up with the rest of them is the easy part!

The hardest? The freaking Ul*tabkey* Range. Get item, climb ALLLLL the way up to realize you've falling off the WRONG ledge and have to do it all over again. The aqueducts was also kind of tricky because of the Stego's staring me down right before the formors (and guess who forgot to clear her hate..)

The easiest? Toraimarai Canal :3 I really just AFK'd through the entire map quest. XD Alot of going back and forth on the boat.

Most fun? Crawlers' Nest!!! I'll never forget the Valkrum Dunes Monument. The view may be beautiful, but the broken grass at our feet is testimony to the inhospitality of this place. The shallows repel anchoring ships, with nothing for miles but sand. Indeed, the dunes are ill-fit for any purpose save sunbathing. One day I happened upon a young swimmer struggling for air. I swam out to save her, and as a gesture of thanks she led me to a fascinating place. To a small inlet she guided me, to show me dolphins, no doubt. None were there, but I noticed the bay was a natural harbor. I was a sailor in youth, so I knew this to be an important discovery! The harbor I named "Selbina". Upon seeing her own name inscribed on my map, the girl clapped her hands in joy. Sooo..the Dunes really is a wasteland! XD

I was doing my usual round of tiger stomping when I remembered something said to me when I was a wee little nublet.

I was with some friends making our unassisted way to Jeuno (I didn't have enough money for a chocobo license yet, so I went home to do some quests) and we had reached Batllia Downs unharmed. One member said to "Follow me to avoid the tigers. They could outrun us. Its long but its safe." and we got to Jeuno without much of a problem, even saw an NM stroll by.

I'm in Batllia now, on my WHM, staring out across the zone and remembering being afraid of these big kitty cats, and I'm walking that path again, weaving out of the tiger and gob hotspots to get to the safety of Jeuno.

I wonder if my old friends miss me sometimes.

It started out ok.. I guess. I was fishing for Bootymaster out in West Ronfaure.

Our new LS Ranger, using his keen ranger sense, realizes its a Full Moon. This means White Coney is up, and Meilin has been recruited to go kill a Bunny Fu-Fu.

Ok, I had to count the birds. I was also distracted by the lovely fresh brewed San d'Orian tea, my snuggly Coeurldeleonne came online and I needed to play with her tail, and well, I just got cute overload with ONE chick, let alone... *recounts* 21 of them!!

Bootymaster is trying to get his LuShangs, its become something like a LS mission to get him one now. We had 4-5 people fishing all at one time for him. We'll get it, I know we will! Were just past the 1k fish mark. I'm trying to snag all the fish off the AH as I can, along with the 200 I can catch a day... I swear the Knightwell in Ronfaure is so chock full of MoatKarp I can drop a bucket in and come up with 15 of them!

Owie-wowie, does this fight STING. Well, maybe it would sting less if like.. Lilli was fighting with us... and we had the entirely of the armies of the Allied Forces. General Zazarg, Rongelouts N Distaud and Romaa Mihgo, and two piddly troops each does not an army make....but I digress.

The Orcs are forcing Jeuno into giving up. The Junoian counsul has agreed to meet on the Orcish grounds. Barring some awesome Zero Wing references... Shit is getting real. I was sent with Lilli to go muss stuff up in our favor, once again. I took Bootymaster, Bucer, and a late arrival, my snuggly Coeurldelionne. We outfitted Bootymaster in some tank-type gear, Snuggly got a Kirin's Osode for protection. I stuck with stoneskin and Bucer just does what he does best (Not die.)

First off, if this is the best the allied forces have, WERE IN DEEP SHIT FOR THE REST OF THIS WAR. Why do you run off into a troop of beastmen 6+ strong with 3 people? Argh. Anyway, we keep the troops alive JUST long enough to get to the big baddie, who is still shouting Zero Wing lines at the top of his lungs. Entertaining.

Zazarg just likes to tear shit up. He's like a machine! We were pretty roughed up when the NM popped, but somehow, we managed to unweaken, rest up, and keep Zazarg's ass alive for him to rape out the Orc. No wonder he became a Seaserpent General.

All in all, we saved Jeuno. It was a hard fight, the brain-dead AI of the troops didn't help as we tried to kite the mobs TO them so they would stick together. Argh.

Oh well. Saved Jeuno! What you say SE?! ....ok, enough of that, I need to go lay down now...

KSNM: Contaminated Colosseum, meet AkaiTenshi.

Setup: 75RDM x2, 73RDM, 75BLM, 73BLM, 75PLD

This was mind numbingly simple, I was one of the RDM75s.

What we did: Everyone needs to sub Ninja. Everyone.

Having the windower plugin "Distance" also makes a world of difference too. /nodnod.

Run to the circles edge, Let one RDM Grav/DoT, the rest open fire with their strongest nukes.

When the big ball of snot starts taking deep breaths, count them off (in party) After his 3rd breath, he'll ready "Extremely Bad Breath" AoE Death.

Run.

Run like hell.

Its only frontal AoE, long casting, with a range of about 11' Its not hard to outrun.

The /nin is for utsu so he cant hit you with his En-Gravity.

Keep running. Keep gravity up. Use bind. Keep nuking. Don't forget to recast Utsu. Easy as cake.

What I was rewarded with? Glad you ask...

Hehehehe, Ooooh, lifes good. Meimei has a new smacky.

Improvements: Replace the PLD "Medic" with another BLM or RDM, or try with a SCH or WHM for Erases/R3's/Devotion...

We averaged ~8mins a run, clearing 11 orbs, with no losses. Quite simple even when we lost a BLM. I'd go in with no less then 2 RDMs for ever BLM, and if theres no BLMs, a full set of RDMs/SCHs, just because we RDM did so little

I think any melee-heavy party would do HORRIBLE on this KSNM. Our PLD "medic" was replaced by a THF twice, who had a VERY hard time hitting without SA, and at the end of the fight he spams Extremely Bad Breath, and melees tend to fight in the range of "Oh my I'm smacking its asscrack!"

Alt Strats could involve BST's and SMN's, but when he gets spammy at the end I don't think the would do very good.

I love my linkshell. I have the honor of being very good friends with some of my favorite members. I also am a sucker for when one of them needs help...

....so when the request came in that my dear paladin Kiersten needed Storms of Fate done, I went.. "Okies!"

Love you {|/cheer|}sten. (Hate the rest of the slobs on the run! >_>;; )

So I ended up picking a date, posting on the NA community forums for my server, and gathering about 24 people for an 18 man fight. I figured 20 of those 24 wouldnt show. Well, 15 did, including me. Allright! It looked something like.. two plds, two whms, a rdm, a sch, a blm, a smn, and enough DDs to make me happy.

I give a little speach about how this is gonna work, (In pirate talk. :3 Capt'n Meilin couldnt resist.. hehe) and off we went.

It took a while to get the scale for the displacement

AND THEN people werent following me, ended up down by Monarch Linn, and dying.

AND THEN people didnt listen to me when i said STAND OUT OF CONICAL RANGE, MORE TWORDS HIS ASS, BUT NOT ON HIS ASS. So we wiped the first run.

Note: When your wife/friends/cats/dogs/taru pet is in a BCNM, and you are not, sending the leader of the run angry tells about how she is "fucking up" is not helpful, at all. I am not a DD, I am the WHM. I stand off to the side, keeping my 15 people alive best I can. If you cant follow some simple instructions.. well.. your fault.

Second time.. better.. and we win. <3>< My MP pool was spent in seconds!

Kiersten blew a vile .00002 seconds before I popped Bene though. >< I feel bad. ; ; He got hit with Gigaflare, and i just ran in and popped it off without thinking. Oops, sowrry kitty.

Now, weve won, everyones gotten a raise, and the BLM asks who needs a D2.. well, the whole damn alliance, 'cept me, the other WHM, and the RDM disbanded for warps. RDMs subbing WHM, me and the other whm figure were just redundant, and warp home ourselves.

SECONDS after I hit home I get a tell, yelling at me for warping, that people could of needed tele's, from a guy WHO ISNT EVEN ON THE RUN....

Hmm.. everyone disbanded... nope, I think I'm in the clear.

I did get alot of thanks for the run though. <3

Level Sync: First impressions.

Today, one of the coolest version updates came out... Level Sync down to your friends level, and play with them! Sweeeet!!! I can finally play with my friends!!

Overall, it works pretty well. We all decided to sync down to 45 and headed off to Crawlers Nest. Nobody bought gear, we all went in what we were wearing (See my BRD, hanging out in her relic and Kirin's Osode. Yeah, no Sha'ir here.. >_> BRD is not my strong point.)

The system works well. It even has a built in "Oshit..." Button. Party lead can easily "break" sync. We pulled a link, and instead of wiping, I broke sync and in 30 seconds, we were able to easily kick the bugs into submission with no trouble once we were all back to our orignal levels.

The bad? Well, Sync'd gear is a little less then startless event gear. Most - peices retain the full - effect, but no + effect. My BRD gear was pretty much reduced to statless model coverings for me. I know most of it was high level CHR and EVA gear, but our 72SAM was pretty much swinging a peice of junk, in barely "passible" gear.

I give SE a B- for effort. Hopefully this brings back the low-level gear market though, and I sure as hell arent tossing my capped gear.

I have to say, I'm proud of the group of morons I lead. They may be a little rough around the edges, and have the mouths of truckers... but there MY truckers, my morons, mine..all mine!

*ahem*

So, we set off on exploring Nyzul Isle, because I said so... I want the new relic, if it kills me, and them, of course.

Things have been rocky.. we keep hitting floors with chariots, and GOD DAMN those things take a while to kill, even with light/dark + burst. One run we hit chariots (Kill specified) and then Long-Gunned Chariot (enemy leader) back to back x.x; Ugh, it sucks! Thankfully though, were making decent progress to keep my token reserves stocked, and we hit Floor 15 on our last run. Now we were ready to hit floor 20.

Our setup is usually BRD SCH WHM DDx3. I'd like to change that to COR SCH WHM PLD/NIN DD DD... I'll dream.

BRD - Meilin
SCH - Xynin
WHM - Maharo
SAM - Sakura
DRK - Maguss
WAR - Karandras

(I couldn't of asked for much better people, really..)

We hop up to floor 20 with about 13 minutes on the clock. We buff, and the 10 minute warning flairs... and our opponent? Teacup! Also known as Fafnir.. and we hit the ground the running. Maharo hit some lag too early on, and Karandras ate floor. With a barrage of Blood Weapon, Meiko Shisui, and a well timed Benediction, Teacup cracked. Our reward was for our adorable professor Xynin, our first pair of Goliard.

I have to kick Maharo our of the WHM spot...

Xynin is a godsend for AoE's

Make Maguss level nin sub for boss floors.

SE glitched my tags so we couldnt run more.

Lesson #2. Apollo's Staff.

I'm part bard.. I hate to admit it but during Nyzul Isle, I LOVE TO BE BARD. I love pulling chain 200's.

...and I'm totally in love with this Apollo's Staff... It makes me feel strong. It makes Repose resist less, and god is is sexy on my Bard...

This isn't much of a lesson is it? I'll do some testing to justify this post later.

This has got to be the only endgame event I feel completely useless except for the fact I have Raise 3.

If the tanks are gonna die.. nothing my limited MP pool is going to so except prolong the inevitable. Perfect example, Dynamis - Qufim...

The run goes -flawless- until the final boss... as he rampages on our tanks. I guess I have the privileged spot of being in the tank party and watching, in almost slow motion, as the main tank's HP goes from full, to 0, in the time I could of casted.... nothing.

Thankfully, the next pld up for slaughter was a little brighter, and somehow lived long enough for me to pop cures off for him... invincible, Gigas rampages on... MP pool at 0... PLD #2 still breathing... Benediction... Marytr... I finally eat dirt... and so does the rest of the alliance...

For all my stalling, we chipped the NM down 4%.
